Track 3: Panel Discussion: Exodus: Workforce Planning for the Next Generation

The talent landscape has become an entirely different ball game as compared to a few years ago. To stay ahead of the talent shortage, organizations need to resort to various means to build a robust and sustainable talent pool. Some businesses today are investing in the people they already have and are growing their talent pipeline, in-house while some are growing inorganically.

Organizations of today also have a large global presence, and it becomes imperative for them to plan their workforce across various locations.

This panel discussion throws light on how organizations are balancing their talent pyramid across geographies and building competencies on new age technologies for the future.

Track 3: Panel Discussion: Good Will Hunting: Organization Makeover for the Born Digital

Gen X belongs to the days of yore. Meet Generation Y- the next wave of talent that has set foot into the global workforce arena. They’re sharp, canny, and perspicacious and are really on the ball. This emerging workforce is no longer interested in the command-and-control leadership. With enterprises expanding their interests across the globe, they are faced with a heterogeneous workforce.

A large piece of this pie constitutes young men and women (the 20 – 25 age group), accounting for 60% of the global workforce. This new talent pool is adept at employing digital technologies in all spheres of life- including work. They prefer ‘open and collaborative’ workplaces. Work-life integration is top priority for them. And, they detest being confined to the cubicle. The current workforce wants work to be ‘an experience’ rather than a mere source of funds.

The stage is set- clearly, the workforce is transforming in many ways, bringing in fresh challenges for businesses to deal with. This panel discussion is a lowdown on the plans and strategies to be devised by organizations in order to effectively manage this new workforce.

Today, anyone with an idea and an internet connection can change the world and bring about never-heard-of transformations. We live in an extraordinary time, when, thanks to the availability of technology at one’s fingertips, anyone with a transformational idea can leave their imprint on the world. Mark Zuckerburg.
